Easy Alternatives to Stop Smoking

There are many different ways to stop smoking cigarettes.   Many people don’t really give these different ways a legitimate chance, but you need to if you really want to be successful in kicking the habit.   By taking this advice and actually using it and giving an honest effort to help yourself quite, you will be able to get there sooner than you can possibly imagine.  Probably the one most well known is chewing nicotine gum.

Nicotine gum has been around for a long time.  Nicotine gum actually delivers a small amount of nicotine to the chewer through the tissues in their mouth.  If you use nicotine gum to quit smoking, you chew it for a while until you feel a tingling sensation, then you are supposed to stop and just let it sit between your gum and cheeks.  You do this every so often until the nicotine is all chewed out of the gum, or until your cravings are gone.  Over time, as your system becomes accustomed to lesser amounts of nicotine you begin to use less of the product until it is no longer required.

The next best way to quit is by using the nicotine patch. The nicotine patch showed up shortly after the gum was allowed to be sold over the counter.  The patch is placed on the skin, usually the arm or somewhere less obvious by the wearer.  The nicotine patch also provides a slow release of nicotine to the wearer.  The nicotine is released into the bloodstream through the skin.  Because of its simplicity in use, the nicotine patch is probably the most popular used method to stop smoking today.  There is also the nicotine inhaler which is similar to inhalers people with respiratory problems use.  The device emits a small release of nicotine to the user.  It is used whenever the person feels a strong craving.

There are also hypnosis programs to help people stop smoking.  These are also referred to as smoking cessation programs.  An individual is hypnotized into having a negative experience every time they try to smoke a cigarette.  The experience is so unpleasant they make the choice not to smoke.  There are also self-hypnosis tapes and CDs available to stop smoking.  These self-hypnoses CDs usually have a relaxing sound or music playing to encourage the listener into a deeper state of relaxation or sleep.  The CDs come with subliminal messages embedded throughout the music that only the person’s subconscious can detect.  The messages encourage the listener to live a healthier and smoke free way of life, while also building self-esteem.

Of course there is always quitting by going cold turkey.  Unlike the methods that slowly release amounts of nicotine so your body gets accustomed to the lesser degrees without much withdrawal, cold turkey is complete withdrawal.  With this method it can take several weeks to a month for the body to become accustomed to the absence of nicotine, but in the end it will get you to stop smoking!

The Easy Way to Stop Smoking

Do you want to quit smoking really bad but it just seems like everything you try doesn’t work?  I know how you feel.  I have been there also but about four years ago I figured out a way to kick the habit.  At that time I had people telling me what kind of prescriptions to get and what kind of nicotine gum to buy and none of that worked for me.  Finally I decided to just figure out my smoking habits and go from there.  I took it one day at a time and over a few months it all came together and now I am totally smoke-free and I love it.  Here are the steps I took to quit smoking:

The first step:  Write a diary of your smoking habits be sure to put when and where you smoke the most.  Do this daily until you can see your routine.   You need to carry a note pad with you and write when you usually smoke a cigarette, or when you really crave one.   This will give you insight on what you need to do in order to change this problem immediately.

Second Step:  Change your routine.  If you can stop one of your habits at a time it is easier than being ambushed all at once with total change that just makes you frustrated which then leads to wanting to smoke.  Do this one at a time.   Also if you don’t smoke around your family, certain friends, or kids, try to be around these people more, as it makes it easier not to smoke!

Step three:  Take it slow.  If you get in too much of a hurry to quit smoking, more than likely you will get discouraged with yourself because you feel like you can’t do it.  It’s really that simple all it really requires is patience and self obedience.

An example of how this works is, take for instance after you find your routine, you discover that you smoke constantly while watching television.  What you would do then is try to break that one habit first by no longer taking your cigarettes with you to watch television and making yourself get up and go outside when you crave one.  Over time you will no longer have the unconscious habit of lighting and smoking while watching television. You can apply this technique to any situation.  Such as sitting at the computer, driving, reading, or even in the bath tub.  You just replace that bad habit with something different.

I discovered that when I had the urge to smoke that if I got a drinking straw and held it like a cigarette that it helped a great deal because I could inhale clean air through the straw and breathing deep always helped those few moments to pass by a little easier.  It is never an easy task to break any habit you have had for years but if you take it slow and break one small habit at a time you can do it.

This process does take longer to complete, but for me, I felt more and more confident that I could quit with each small habit I stopped.  I had more ambition to be a non-smoker. Eventually, I had quit each habit I had wrote in my diary and therefore; completely quit smoking.  I am very proud of myself and hopefully, soon enough, you can be too.

Easy Routine to Stop Smoking

People smoke for a variety of reasons, so it is difficult to find a single “magic bullet” way to quit.  I managed to quit, though, after smoking for five years, without any real trouble at all.  Yes, I was fortunate to be able to do so, but looking back, I can isolate several factors that enabled me to make a clean break from cigarettes with relative ease, and can recommend them to anyone who is looking for ways to make quitting easier.

First, look for trans-formative moments in your life, and try to time quitting smoking so that it corresponds with one of them.  One thing that made quitting easy for me was that I timed it with graduating from college.  I was in new surroundings, I had changed everything else in my life, and giving up smoking was that much easier.  If you’re moving, starting a new job, or making some other significant change, maybe the time is right to give up smoking, too.  It’s not always possible, of course, to wait for your life to change to give up smoking.

Another way to make quitting easier that you can do at any time is to pick up a new hobby that satisfies that little obsessive habitual urge.  Smoking becomes a ritual for most of us, and the addiction is often as much a matter of habit as it is a matter of chemicals.  Find a new ritual.  For me, it was exercise – working out gave me the combination of endorphins and stress relief that I had relied on cigarettes to do before.  Try to pick up some new activity that you can feel good about, whether it’s knitting, playing a musical instrument, exercise, or what have you, and see if that new ritual can replace the old.

Finally, and this is probably the most controversial piece of advice I will offer, don’t let quitting become too gigantic a thing in your mind.  If you take the word “never” out of the equation, it becomes much easier to quit because quitting doesn’t seem so overwhelming.  Instead of saying “I can never, ever have a cigarette again,” focus on not smoking for a couple of days, or for a couple of weeks.  As long as you don’t backslide too dramatically after reaching those goals, you can progress toward quitting gradually.  I never told myself that I could never smoke again, so I never felt overwhelmed.  Then, all of a sudden I woke up one morning and realized I hadn’t had a cigarette for months.  Now, I’m going on twelve years cigarette-free, and very rarely do I miss smoking at all.  Try these techniques – hopefully, they’ll make quitting as easy for you as it was for me.

10 Easy Ways to Stop Smoking

Many of us have tried to stop smoking at some point in our lives, but we failed and we continued to smoke until our bodies health has deteriorated.  After trying several times with no success, we always find reasons not to continue.  We told ourselves that we don’t have enough will or that it’s not the right time now to stop smoking.  In many ways, smoking is an addiction, and like other addictions there are ways and treatments to cure it.  Here are 10 easy ways to stop smoking

1. Nicotine patches prove to be very effective.   A nicotine patch is designed to replace the nicotine dose that our organs demand after going through our daily smoking routines.

2. Hypnosis has  became a very popular way to get rid of the smoking habit. This method has proven efficient, but very expensive. A good way to try it is to find an expert or a good hypnosis book if you want to save money while kicking the habit.

3. Will is the most efficient method and also the most difficult one. In the first 3 weeks, when the nicotine needs are strongest.  The most important thing is not to allow yourself not even a single cigarette.   This is extremely difficult, but if you can get through it, I guarantee you will stop smoking for good and you can do anything else you want to accomplish in life with ease.

4.Chewing gum:  Besides the nicotine patches, you can chew nicotine gum. The need to smoke will eventually fade after six weeks if you proceed right.

5. Avoid coffee or other incentives The incentives like coffee raise the need for nicotine. Replace them. Take your energy from fruits, other drinks or energy drinks. Healthy meals will maintain your level of energy and cut your need for nicotine.

6.Exercise and relaxation are another great way to stop smoking.    Many people smoke to remove stress.  Physical exercises and meditation can help you relax and in the same time forget about smoking.

7.Avoid temptations.   Many people start smoking because of their entourage.  If you start in the same way, avoid restaurants, bars, clubs or places in which you know people smoke.

8.Change your behavior If you smoke at regular times, identify those situations and anticipate them or simply avoid them.   Create new situations where you don’t smoke, maybe around your parents, childrens, or family.   This will make it easier to stop smoking!

9.Give up gradually: Try to give up smoking gradually . Smoke every day with one less cigarette until you end up not smoking at all. But this method requires you to have a lot of ambition, but is fun as its like a competition, except your competiting with yourself.

10.Eat healthy.  The ones who stop smoking complain that they gain fat.  You don’t have to worry about that , just to be careful what you eat.  Fruits, cereals, vegetables and food low on sugar are very good for a healthy nutrition and a healthy body.
